Similar to a fixed or banded palatal expander with the exception that the acrylic negates the need for spacers and fitting of bands prior to taking the impression. A soldered occlusal rest can be added to help with unwanted eruption of chosen teeth. Debonding loops can also be added to assist in removal of the appliance.
